Why SBIR/STTR Grants May Be Beneficial to Your Business

April 13, 2011, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM CDT

The Office for Technology Commercialization (OTC), Carlson School of Management, Minnesota Cup and the Minnesota Science and Technology Authority are pleased to host a workshop addressing how Minnesota companies can better compete for National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants. Ruth Shuman, Program Director for the NSF SBIR/STTR program, will provide insights and answer questions about the benefits of these grants and how Minnesota companies can better compete for them. Prior to joining The SBIR/STTR program, Ruth was a successful startup CEO and a member of the OTC Venture Center CEO-in-Residence program. Ruth is uniquely qualified to provide insights that can help applicants create grant proposals that have a better chance of being accepted. This workshop is intended for University of Minnesota faculty, postdocs and graduate students, but is also open to prospective Minnesota Cup entrants as well as the general public.
