Global Ideas Competition
Now in its seventh year, Cleantech Open Global Ideas is a truly global search for technologies that make a real difference: breakthrough clean technology ideas from innovators around the word to replace the polluting energy, water, building and transport technologies of yesteryear. As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, this annual competition sees startups from around the world contending for national awards. The national winners then face off at the spectacular Cleantech Open Global Forum in San Francisco, California (November 16-19, 2015) for the Global Ideas Prize.
Last year, twenty-three teams from around the world convened at the 2014 Global Forum. Since 2009, 43 countries have participated in the Cleantech Open Global Ideas (link to: http://www.global-ideas.net/) with the most recent global award going to AutoAgronom of Israel for its innovative automated plant irrigation and fertilization technology. Other global winners have developed solutions to transform insects into sustainable nutrient resource for agro-industries and bioactive compounds for green chemistry, to solve organic waste disposal problems, developed a microgel for water purification & cleaning of solid surfaces and software for intelligent energy management & making quality vineyard decisions.
