Description

Americans spend about $30B annually on running their home air conditioners. To satisfy this consumption, utility companies must build a robust infrastructure including power plants just to cover peak demand. Electricity supply during peak hours costs multiples the base price. A simple retrofit product based on proven technology - invented by Viridis Earth Technologies and commercialized by AC Research Lab - reduces the energy requirements of air conditioners by 20% routinely and 30% during heatwaves. This translates directly to both a lower monthly energy cost for the consumers and a reduction of peak power production and transmission expense for the utilities. There are 60 million air conditioner units installed in the United States alone. Depending on usage, the increase in efficiency can translate to a savings of $350 and a reduction of carbon foot print by more than two metric tons in one summer. At a price to the consumer after rebate of $350 this device can pay for itself in the first season.
