Silicon Valley Clean Tech Speaker Series: Solar Power -- A Balancing Act - Dr. Abe Ghanbari of Folium Technology Consulting at Santa Clara

April 5, 2011, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM PDT

The solar industry is constantly in the news. Will the new technologies and start-ups be able to compete? What is the impact of the Solyndra bankruptcy? Leasing agreements and inexpensive panels from Chinese manufacturers are making solar more attractive to the consumer. However, declining natural gas prices may push down the net cost of electricity. Government incentives for solar seem to be uncertain. New US tariffs on Chinese solar equipment have been announced. Is this the first volley of a trade war? The solar market is dynamic, chaotic, and confusing. Is the solar industry just going through growing pains? What are the underlying forces that have created this dysphoria? How can the industry navigate this storm? Come hear Dr. Abe Ghabari examine the dynamics driving the market and define a paradigm shift to stabilize the market.
