Sven Thesen led business-development efforts for Better Place where he landed a $7M grant for a large-scale switchable battery taxi project for the Bay Area. Sven directed PG&E’s electric vehicle (EV) group and under his direction, PG&E secured its EV leadership position through a number of initiatives, including the utility’s first demonstration of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology and the secondary use of transportation batteries in the utility sector. Sven also managed the PG&E sulfur hexafluoride emission reduction team and assisted the United Nations in revising the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. As a result of his contributions, he along with the other IPCC engineers and scientists were awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
