Rex Northen | Executive Director

Rex is an entrepreneur with a long history of building and managing companies and successful teams. He has product development, management and technical expertise having founded and served as CEO with technology companies both in Europe and the United States.
His background includes experience in the design, development and implementation of business automation systems as well as sales, marketing, online marketing, and consulting. Rex has worked with many hundreds of companies including a diverse range of startups and global corporations.
In 2007-2008 volunteered for the California Cleantech Open as Chair of the Mentors and Angel Investor programs and an active member of the fundraising team. He holds an M.A. with Honors from Oxford University

John C. Krzywicki, True North Venture Partners

John focuses on identifying early stage investment opportunities, executing investments, and assisting portfolio companies for True North Venture Partners based in Chicago, Illinois. John graduated from Stanford in 2011 with an MBA and MS in Environment & Resources. From 2007 to 2009, John was an Associate with Alloy Ventures, an early stage VC firm managing >$1B and investing in Cleantech, High Tech and Biotech, where he focused on target due diligence and transaction execution.

Vinesh Mehta, Business Development, Suntulit

Vinesh has over 15 years of experience in the high-tech and cleantech sectors. He was head of business development and operations at Suntulit – an energy efficiency startup that was also a national finalist in the 2010 Cleantech Open competition as well as a winner of the 2011 GE Ecomagination Prize. Since then, Vinesh has decided to join the Cleantech Open national business development team to support programs key to Cleantech Open participants. His responsibilities include sponsorship development, sales and marketing operations, and investor events management. Vinesh holds a BS with distinction in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Justin Kaster, Co-Founder and President, Cleantech Open Midwest

Justin is a business innovation strategist, corporate development professional, and management advisor. Over the course of his career, he has worked with hundreds of companies and executed on over $2 billion of transactions. Justin co-founded the Midwest division of Cleantech Open, which includes Midwest North and Midwest Central regions. In 2011, Justin was named to Twin Cities Business magazine list of “200 Minnesotans You Should Know.” The list is a compilation of Industry Titans, Rising Stars, Agents of Change, Creative Geniuses and Local Sports Leaders and Celebrities. He is also an active member with community and industry organizations, including serving on the advisory board for two Department of Energy programs and DistribuTECH, a national cleantech conference.
