Alumni Workshop III: Funding Series: Demystifying the Financing Process

April 1, 2009, 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM PDT

Please join us for an enlightening session on different financing options for start-ups.
Key takeaways from the panel:

  • understanding of different financing models, and the pros and cons of each
  • insight into which models are most appropriate in a given circumstance
  • viewpoints from the angel, VC and corporate investment perspectives
  • knowledge of how deals are reviewed internally
  • reasons that plans do not obtain funding
  • how and when to followup and when to call it a day
The panel will include an angel investor, venture capital investors and a corporate investor. We will explain for each of these types of financing the process flow, what rises to the surface and why, typical percentage of deals that get funded, reasons why plans don't get funded by stage in process. We will even get into the details such as how often to write e-mails/follow-up with the investor and does a no answer mean no.

The panel will not discuss pitching as there will be a follow-on workshop to work on presenting.
There will be ample time for Q&A.
